Morning Rituals

Luang Prabang, Loas

Every morning before sunrise, thousands of monks young and old walk the streets to collect their daily meals – donations from Buddhist devotees. Many families in Laos are poor and send their boys off to temples to be fed and educated, something they can’t afford.

I spent 9 days studying this ritual so that on my last day I could capture this brief and beautiful moment as the children wait for the elders to start the procession.
